PGL Major Copenhagen’s Brazilian Teams

PGL Major Copenhagen

The first stage of PGL Major Copenhagen is currently underway and in the race, there are four Brazilian teams. One of them, FURIA Esports, started the tournament with two consecutive defeats. But the other three have much better chances of advancing to the second stage. On day 1, they all had one victory and one defeat.

In theory, FURIA should have been the strongest of the four teams that represent Brazil at this tournament. But, as it turns out, it will probably be either Legacy or Imperial who qualify for stage 2.

FURIA Esports

FURIA were unfortunate enough to run into Legacy in their first match of the tournament. The battle needed overtime rounds to conclude, and in the end, Legacy won 16 – 13.

For Marcelo “coldzera” David, this victory must have been bittersweet because he used to be teammates with Gabriel “FalleN” Toledo. The two of them shared lots of great moments and won around 10 trophies back in 2016 – 2018.

In the second match of the tournament, FURIA encountered Lynn Vision Gaming. They should have won with ease, but something went wrong again. The final score was 9 – 13 on Nuke. Apart from Kaike “KSCERATO” Cerato, everyone on FURIA struggled against the Chinese squad.

These two defeats put FURIA in a very bad position. The team now needs three consecutive victories to stay in the race.

Legacy

After winning against FURIA, Legacy went on to lose against Cloud9. This opponent proved to be too strong for them to handle, but perhaps their next match, against GamerLegion will end with a better result.

The fact that coldzera is part of Legacy is clearly helping the team a lot. His experience, confidence, and individual prowess are probably a huge inspiration for the younger players.

Based on everything we’ve seen so far, Legacy have a high chance of qualifying for the next stage of PGL Major Copenhagen.

Imperial Esports

Imperial started the tournament with an epic victory against ENCE. The score was 22 – 19. In their second match, the Brazilians lost against HEROIC, but this does not mean they’re weak.

The 16 – 14 score clearly suggests that Imperial could have won the match. And let’s not forget that HEROIC are a very strong team in this first stage of the tournament.

PaiN Gaming

PaiN Gaming defeated Apeks 13 – 8 but then got demolished by Eternal Fire (2 – 13). Overall, this team looks strong but it’s doubtful that they have what they need to qualify. Their next match, against ENCE, will be very important.
