PGL Major Copenhagen Elimination Stage Results

PGL Major Copenhagen

The Elimination Stage of PGL Major Copenhagen is finally over and most of the favorites have advanced to the playoffs.

Unfortunately for Complexity, they lost three consecutive best-of-three series after winning the first two matches of the stage. As for Virtus.pro, they too failed to qualify in the end despite being 2 W – 1 L after the first three matches.

No Brazilian teams made it to the playoffs. FURIA Esports, Imperial Esports, and paiN Gaming failed to secure three wins. The last of these three teams won against The MongolZ and HEROIC, but ended up losing the 5th match against Natus Vincere.

The Qualified Teams

Almost all of the teams who qualified for the playoffs of the Copenhagen Major are the ones the fans would have loved to be able to watch in Copenhagen’s Royal Arena. These teams have been around for a long time and are full of legendary players.

The trophy will be highly contested at this CS2 Major. The two clear favorites, Team Spirit and MOUZ, will face some really tough opponents. And this time, the matches will be played in front of a screaming audience. It’s one thing to play in a room where there is little tension and it’s another thing to play in an arena where there is tremendous tension.

The LAN conditions might even lead to serious upsets because they favor the more experienced teams, such as FaZe Clan, Team Vitality, and G2 Esports.

Here are the eight teams who qualified for this 3rd stage:

  • Team Spirit: 3 W – 0 L
  • MOUZ: 3 W – 0 L
  • Eternal Fire: 3 W – 1 L
  • Cloud9: 3 W – 1 L
  • Team Vitality: 3 W – 1 L
  • Natus Vincere: 3 W – 2 L
  • G2 Esports: 3 W – 2 L
  • FaZe Clan: 3 W – 2 L

For Spirit and MOUZ, the qualification process ended very quickly. They still had to deal with a lot of stressful moments and some of their matches ended 13 – 11. But every single time, they were victorious. Natus Vincere succeeded in winning a map against Team Spirit, proving that they can bleed.

The biggest surprise on this list is Eternal Fire. The Turks played better than ever and will probably give Na’Vi a run for their money in the quarterfinals.

For FaZe Clan and G2 Esports, this tournament will likely end in the quarterfinals because their opponents, Team Spirit and MOUZ, are considerably stronger. We’ll have to see if Vitality can beat Cloud9. If Mathieu “ZywOo” Herbaut is in great shape, it shouldn’t be a problem.
