Dota 2 Skins Guide

Dota 2 is a Multiplayer Online Battle Arena game or a MOBA. Valve Corporation developed it, and since its release, it has been played by tens of millions of people. Let’s see this Dota 2 skins guide.

Being a free-to-play game, Dota 2 is monetized via in-game content, and the most important type of such content is skins. These purely graphical items do not enhance players’ ability to win the game. But they provide lots of eye-catching visual elements, making players very interested in them.

Usually, whenever you play a Dota 2 match, at least one player of the two teams has his character equipped with very nice skin. Sometimes, all five players on each team have nice skins.

The higher you climb in MMR, the more Arcanas you will see. People who have been playing Dota 2 for years tend to invest more in the game to improve the quality of their visual experience.

How to Obtain Dota 2 Skins

Dota 2 skins can be bought on the Steam Market or obtained by opening Dota 2 treasure chests. Many of them are common, but there are other rare items too:

  • Common
  • Uncommon
  • Rare
  • Mythical
  • Legendary
  • Immortal
  • Persona
  • Arcana
  • Ancient

Arcanas

By far, the most valuable are Arcana and Ancient skins. The Ancient ones can no longer be obtained but used to be offered to those who completed some special in-game events. The Arcanas are expensive and look amazing, full of special effects, sound modifications, and visual modifications.

In some cases, even the frequently used items of these heroes look different. And on top of that, all of their skills get augmented by the Arcana with epic effects. If you want to see how cool Arcanas can look, try Spectre, Juggernaut, or Phantom Assassin. All of these heroes have pretty spectacular Arcanas.

Personas

Another really interesting Dota 2 skin is the Persona. This is a skin that completely changes the personality of the hero. If he’s male, you might be able to play a female version. Or vice versa, like in the case of Phantom Assassin.

Invoker has a really interesting Persona called Heir of Menace. This Persona turns him into a child Invoker, and the in-game model is small. The hero’s best skin remains his Dark Artistry Arcana, which costs around $266.

What Types of Dota 2 Skins You Can Buy

Buying skins in Dota 2 is quite easy. All you need to do is open the Shop inside the game and search for the items you desire. Apart from skins, you’ll be able to buy Player Autographs, Talent Autographs, Artificer Tools, Announcer Packs, Music Packs, HUDs, Backgrounds, and much more.

If you want something very specific at a lower price, you can try to buy Dota 2 skins on the Steam Market or a skin trading site such as Tradeit.gg. Such a digital marketplace will provide you with numerous options to choose from and with exceptional rarities.

When buying Dota 2 skins from Valve, your direct payment options are limited. You can only use your Steam Wallet. However, you will get access to indirect payment methods when you add money to your wallet. The most common one is PayPal.

How Dota 2 Skins Differ From Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Skins

In CS:GO, you don’t really get to buy skins directly. Instead, you need to buy weapon cases that contain them. In Dota 2, this mechanism is used to some degree, but you can also buy your desired skin set directly from the shop without opening an Immortal Treasure and hoping for the best.

There’s far less RNG involved in Dota 2 skins than CS:GO skins. And that keeps the prices more stable. In CS:GO, you can have a wild range of prices, which tend to vary a lot from year to year and even week to week. But in Dota 2, the skin market is stable.
