- Confirm the trade-off. Its card says it is untradable and consumes both picks. Do not expect to take a case or skin alongside it.
Players have shown the egg in a wicker basket beside their menu character, while the item system treats it as a pet slot. Those descriptions refer to different views of the same feature. The egg can be inspected, and party members can see it in the lobby.
What the egg costs you
The usual weekly drop pool gives players a choice of items with resale value. The egg has no market price today, so take it because you want to raise a pet, not as an investment. What CS2 Pets Are and Where Yours Appears

Where feed comes from
Chicken Feed is another Weekly Care Package item, shown in three bag sizes in the current assets. The game files warn players when a pet is running low and direct them back to a later package for more. That makes the decision to take an egg an ongoing choice, not a one-week novelty.
What happens if you run out
The file logic says growth depends on food. If the food supply runs out first, the egg will not hatch or a pet will leave. The warning reads, “Your pet is running low on food. Grab more feed from a Weekly Care Package soon.” No one has yet documented how many bags a full life requires. Check your own pet’s status before choosing other rewards.

Red-Yellow Gradient and White with Tan Head for Catalana, Black, Brown, Brown with Black Head and Tiger for Silkie, and Red for Polish are present in assets but not in the active breed lists. A file asset is not a promise that Valve will release it.
Are some chickens rarer?
Not in any proven market sense. Repeated entries may suggest a higher chance of those appearances, but they are not official probability data. Every egg hatches into the same chick and the files indicate that breed and colour are assigned at the pullet stage. There is no verified method to choose or reroll an outcome.
Naming Your Chicken
The file-backed naming flow starts at the chick stage and permits one new name at each later stage. In-game text is designed to show the owner’s name alongside the pet’s chosen name. Wait for the live controls before assuming a paid rename or an unlimited rename option exists.
The HatchBook and Photo Booth
