The Austin Major is over. After such an epic event, a question on many people’s minds is this: who are the top 5 teams in the world in CS2 right now?
We know who the best teams were ahead of the Major but unfortunately for some of them, such as Team Falcons, their result at the most important tournament of the first half of 2025 was poor.
Even though this might have been an isolated failure, Valve’s ranking reflects the results and gives us a top 5 that might be slightly different from what you’d expect.
Here are the best five teams in CS2 right now, according to Valve:
1. Team Vitality
Vitality won seven consecutive S-tier trophies in 2025, including the Austin Major. Thanks to these results, they are not only the best team in the world. They’re probably the best team we’ve seen in Counter-Strike in the last 10 years.
2. MOUZ
MOUZ finished in the top four at their last seven S-tier tournaments. They won the trophy at PGL Cluj-Napoca 2025, placed 2nd at EPL S21, BLAST Open Spring, and IEM Dallas, and finished in the semifinals at IEM Melbourne, BLAST Rivals Spring, and BLAST.tv Austin Major.
It’s worth mentioning that all of these results came after the signing of Lotan „Spinx” Giladi, who came from Team Vitality and proved to be a phenomenal player.
3. Team Spirit
Spirit won a trophy at BLAST Bounty Spring and another one at PGL Astana. They also played in the Grand Final of IEM Katowice, which they lost against Vitality. At the Austin Major, despite Danil “donk” Kryshkovets’ exceptional performance, they were eliminated in the quarterfinals by MOUZ.
4. The MongolZ
The MongolZ continue to impress. After making a name for themselves in 2024, they are now one of the best teams in CS2. Fortunately for them, they peaked right at the perfect time and managed to compete in the Grand Final of the Austin Major.
5. Team Falcons
Many expected Team Falcons to win the Austin Major or at least give Vitality a run for their money, but they suffered an early elimination, finishing 20 – 22nd.
Despite this disappointing result, they won PGL Bucharest this year and played in three other Grand Finals. Thanks to these results, they remain one of the world’s best CS2 teams and will likely continue to thrive in the second half of this year.
