PGL Major Copenhagen: European RMR A Results

PGL-Copenhagen-Major-European-RMR-A

The first European RMR for the Copenhagen Major is finally over and most of the favorites qualified for the event. There were, however, several exceptions. Two of them were quite shocking and will discussed in this article, which analyzes the PGL Major Copenhagen European RMR A results.

Overall, this qualifier went pretty well and provided a lot of entertaining matches. We had the opportunity to watch the likes of Ilya “m0NESY” Osipov and Robin “ropz” Kool doing what they do best and impressing everyone with their skills.

But we also had to endure watching competitors like Team Falcons and Ninjas in Pyjamas getting beaten by lower-ranked opponents.

The Qualified Teams

Here are the eight teams that qualified for the Copenhagen Major, which will start in around four weeks:

  • Virtus.pro
  • G2 Esports
  • Natus Vincere
  • FaZe Clan
  • KOI
  • Eternal Fire
  • SAW
  • AMKAL ESPORTS

As you can see, there are no less than four teams on this list that were theoretically among the underdogs.

In the case of Virtus.pro and G2, both of them finished the tournament with a perfect record and did not lose a single map. For VP, the final match was played against their regional rival Natus Vincere, who qualified in the 4th round. For G2, it was played against FaZe Clan. This makes their results all the more relevant.

It’s also worth noting that m0NESY and his teammate Nikola “NiKo” Kovac hard-carried G2 in the third match of the tournament. Both of them finished with a score difference of +18, while the rest of their teammates had negative score differences.

If the situation continues, we might see G2 making changes later this year, especially if they fail to lose titles because of it.

The Eliminated Teams

Here are the teams that got eliminated in European RMR A. And by that I mean they won’t even play in the Decider Brackets.

  • ENTERPRISE
  • Team Falcons
  • 3DMAX
  • Ninjas in Pyjamas
  • Into The Breach

For Team Falcons, this was a monumental failure. After bringing in Danny “zonic” Sorensen and building a roster around Alvaro “SunPayus” Garcia and Emil “Magisk” Reif, this team was expected to qualify for the Copenhagen Major and then get at least a top 12 result. But it seems that they’re not ready yet.

Money cannot always buy success, at least in the short term. No doubt, zonic is hard at work right now, trying to figure out what went wrong.

The three teams that did not get eliminated despite not finishing in the top eight are Fnatic, 9Pandas, and BetBoom Team. They will get one last opportunity to go to PGL Major Copenhagen after the second European RMR concludes.
