Rust’s monuments aren’t just eye candy—they’re your ticket to survival, loot, and progression. From beginner-friendly spots to high-risk, high-reward challenges, each monument tells its own story and tests your skills. If you’re like me, knowing where to go and what to expect can save you a lot of wasted time (and respawns).
Tier 0 Monuments: Beginner-Friendly and Radiation-Free
When you’re just starting out, these monuments are your best friends. No radiation, low conflict, and decent loot make them perfect for gathering essentials.
- Lighthouse: Often perched along the coastline, the Lighthouse is a low-key spot for collecting barrels and crates. It’s usually not too crowded, so you can focus on scraping together resources without too much hassle.
- Oxum’s Gas Station: This one’s a bit more popular, so expect to bump into other players. Still, it’s packed with recyclers, crates, and food boxes. A solid place to gear up quickly.
- Abandoned Supermarket: Similar to Oxum’s, the supermarket provides food, recyclers, and an occasional military crate. It’s a great stop when you’re low on supplies.
- Mining Outpost: A bit hit-or-miss. You’ll find recyclers and a few crates here, but it can sometimes feel barren. Still, it’s worth checking out if it’s on your route.
- Junkyard: Surprisingly underutilized. The Junkyard’s scattered crates and barrels make it a low-risk, medium-reward location.

Tier 1 Monuments: Low Radiation, Better Loot
Once you’ve secured some basic gear and protection, it’s time to step up. These monuments have better loot but come with some radiation—so pack the right clothing.
- Harbor: A sprawling area with recyclers, green card access, and lots of crates. It’s great for mid-game looting, but stay alert for other players.
- Airfield: This is one of my go-to spots when I’ve got a green card handy. The Airfield has barrels, crates, and two puzzle rooms with great rewards. Just watch out for snipers!
- Water Treatment Plant: A favorite among mid-tier players, this monument offers solid loot, including military crates, along with puzzles requiring green cards.
- Satellite Dish: Compact but rewarding. You’ll find a recycler and some great loot here, especially if you’ve got a green card.
- Dome: The Dome is all about risk and reward. It’s parkour heaven, and if you can climb it, you’ll find some of the best loot around. No recyclers here, though.

Tier 2 Monuments: High Risk, High Reward
These are the heavy hitters. They’re packed with loot but demand proper preparation. You’ll need rad protection, weapons, and plenty of guts to tackle these areas.
- Launch Site: This is the big one. Tons of elite crates, heavy radiation, and frequent PvP encounters. Bring your A-game and don’t forget a hazmat suit.
- Military Tunnels: Packed with scientists and high-end loot, this is a dangerous yet rewarding location. Make sure you’re armed to the teeth.
- Oil Rig: Accessible by boat or chopper, the Oil Rig is a loot goldmine. Just be ready to deal with scientists and possibly other players looking for a fight.
- Power Plant: Another radiation-heavy monument, but the loot’s worth it. Solve the puzzles here to access high-tier rewards.

Final Tips
In my experience, planning your monument runs is crucial. Start small, build your gear, and gradually take on more challenging areas. Always bring enough radiation protection and watch out for other players—especially at high-tier monuments.
If you’re new, focus on mastering Tier 0 and Tier 1 locations before diving into the more dangerous spots.
