YaLLa Compass Group Stage Results

Share

YaLLa Compass 2024 is about to enter the playoffs stage. Only six of the 12 participants survived the group stage and among the eliminated teams are many of the favorites.

Group B, in particular, had a really strange outcome. The three teams who were supposed to qualify for the playoffs were eliminated, while the three underdogs obtained excellent results.

Group A

In group A of YaLLa Compass, The MongolZ confirmed once again that their top-16 result from PGL Major Copenhagen and their top-12 result from ESL Pro League S19 were not an accident.

This team really is one of the world’s best, and the only competitor who managed to beat them in the group stage was Astralis.

After four consecutive victories, The MongolZ looked unstoppable. But Nicolai “dev1ce” Reedtz and his squad found a way to stop the Mongol army. The battle took place on Inferno and the score was 13 – 8.

Thanks to this victory, Astralis qualified for the next stage of YaLLa Compass with a record of 3 W – 2 L.

Another team that impressed everyone was Ninjas in Pyjamas. It’s been a long time since we last saw NiP beating the likes of Astralis, ENCE, and HEROIC. Now that Alejandro “alex” Masanet is the new IGL, it seems that the roster’s play style and philosophy have improved dramatically.

NiP’s score in group A was 4 W – 1 L. The only team who defeated them was The MongolZ.

After nearly beating The MongolZ and upsetting Astralis, Sashi Esport lost every match and finished the group in 6th place. This was largely expected to happen. What wasn’t expected was ENCE’s identical result: 1 W – 4 L.

Apart from beating Sashi, Lukas “gla1ve” Rossander’s new roster had serious difficulties in this tournament.

HEROIC finished 4th with a record of 2 W – 3 L and missed the playoffs as well.

Group B

In group B, the top three favorites were eliminated. FURIA Esports won the race with 12 points after losing the first match against BIG, 3 – 13. BetBoom had the same number of points but finished 2nd because of their defeat against the Brazilians.

Fnatic lost against FURIA and BetBoom but won versus three teams who were supposed to be much stronger than them: BIG, Complexity, and Eternal Fire. All three of them ended up getting eliminated. In the case of BIG and Eternal Fire, almost nothing good happened in the entire group stage.
