Spirit And FaZe Are In The Grand Final Of The Shanghai Major

Team Spirit and FaZe Clan entered the Shanghai Major with high ambitions and regarded as two of the favorites. But they were the least likely to succeed from that elite group!

Now, both of them are in the Grand Final of the tournament. Needless to say, everyone is both shocked and hyped for tomorrow’s match.

Team Spirit’s Path To The Final

Spirit started the Shanghai Major in stage 2 and were immediately defeated by FURIA Esports. After this bad result, Danil “donk” Kryshkovets and his teammates obtained two very dominant victories, one against Wildcard and the other against Natus Vincere.

The final match of stage 2 was played against HEROIC and could have gone either way. In the end, Spirit won 1 – 2 thanks to donk’s remarkable performance.

In the playoffs, Spirit encountered Team Liquid and MOUZ. Both times, they had difficulties but managed to overcome them by adapting to what their opponents were doing. The scores were 0 – 2 against Liquid and 1 – 2 against MOUZ.

In the first of these two matches, donk was easily the best player on the server. But in the second one, Dmitry “sh1ro” Sokolov showed us a glimpse of his old self.

FaZe Clan’s Path To The Final

For FaZe, the second stage of the tournament was a serious challenge. Despite his vast experience, Finn “karrigan” Andersen did not succeed against HEROIC and G2 during this stage and had to play in the 5th round against FURIA after winning the 1st and 3rd against Wildcard and MOUZ.

In the playoffs, everyone expected FaZe to be eliminated in the first round because their opponent was Team Vitality. With Mathieu “ZywOo” Herbaut in top form, FaZe looked like a prey.

But after losing the first map 6 – 13, they started to dominate their opponents thanks to Robin “ropz” Kool’s performance. On the third map, he finished with a score of 28 – 10 and a rating 2.1 of 2.0!

Against G2 Esports, who had defeated them in the Elimination Stage, FaZe looked very confident and would have won both maps with ease had it not been for Janusz “Snax” Pogorzelski’s surprising show of form.
