BLAST Premier Spring Final Playoffs Preview

The second stage of BLAST Premier Spring Final is starting today. Six of the original eight competitors are left in the race.

SAW and G2 Esports, despite their best efforts, lost both of their matches. Meanwhile, Natus Vincere and Team Spirit won their groups and will start the playoffs in the semifinals.

Group Stage Summary

The group stage of BLAST Premier Spring Final clearly showed that Natus Vincere are in much better shape than we expected. At their previous two tournaments, which took place in May, they finished 9th – 12th. But over the last two weeks, it seems that they’ve been training hard for this event.

As for Spirit, they’ve always been a formidable team in the group stage. Their weak point is performing well in the playoffs, when the stakes are high and the audience puts a lot of pressure on every player.

In group A, FaZe Clan and Astralis finished 2nd and 3rd respectively. However, they did not have to play against each other. Both of them failed versus Na’Vi and succeeded versus SAW, which doesn’t tell us very much about their current form.

In group B, Virtus.pro and Team Vitality faced each other in the first match. VP won but both teams ended up qualifying for the playoffs. In a rematch, it’s very likely that Mathieu “ZywOo” Herbaut’s team would win.

Playoffs Predictions

The playoffs of BLAST Premier Spring Final feature Virtus.pro vs. Astralis, and FaZe Clan vs. Team Vitality in the quarterfinals.

Astralis are definitely stronger than VP at this point, so it’s hard to believe that Nicolai “dev1ce” Reedtz will not find a way to win.

The second quarterfinal is much harder to predict. These two teams met each other in the semifinals of PGL Major Copenhagen and then in the quarterfinals of ESL Pro League S19. FaZe won the first match. Vitality won the second match.

Whoever wins has an excellent chance to beat Team Spirit in the semifinals. Both of these competitors defeated Danil “donk” Kryshkovets in the last three months.

On top of that, it’s well-known that Spirit tend to play a lot worse under pressure, while Vitality and FaZe excel in such moments thanks to their vast experience.

BLAST Premier Spring Final Favorites

BLAST Premier Spring Final is about to start. Only eight teams will compete in the tournament but almost all are in the top 10 in global rankings.

The competition is played between June 12 – 16 in London and offers $425,000 in prize money, as well as BLAST Premier points. The winner qualifies for BLAST Premier World Final directly.

Group A Favorites

Group A of BLAST Premier Spring Final features these four teams:

  • Astralis
  • FaZe Clan
  • Natus Vincere
  • SAW

Thanks to the format, three of them will qualify for the playoffs. The winner goes directly to the semifinals. The 2nd and 3rd place teams go to the quarterfinals.

Based on what we saw at IEM Dallas, ESL Pro League S19, IEM Chengdu, YaLLa Compass, and other CS2 tournaments that were played in the last three months, Astralis and FaZe Clan are considerably stronger than Na’Vi and SAW.

Overall, the expectation for this group is that Astralis will win, followed by FaZe and Na’Vi. SAW’s chances of surviving this group are relatively low but that doesn’t mean they can’t cause an upset if they’re in great shape.

The issue here is that they lost six of their last ten matches despite playing against opponents who were much weaker than the likes of Na’Vi and FaZe.

Group B Favorites

In group B, the competitors are:

  • G2 Esports
  • Team Spirit
  • Team Vitality
  • Virtus.pro

This is a terrifying team and everyone will struggle to qualify for the playoffs, with the possible exception of Team Spirit.

At first glance, the weakest team of the four is Virtus.pro. In the last three months, VP finished 9th – 12th at PGL Major Copenhagen, 5th – 6th at IEM Chengdu, 5th – 8th at ESL Pro League S19, 5th – 6th at BetBoom Dacha Belgrade, and 9th – 12th at IEM Dallas.

These results are decent, but their group opponents have played much better over the last three months, winning tournaments or at least finishing in the top four.

At one of the more recent CS2 events, G2 defeated Vitality in the Grand Final. Team Spirit were also in the race and were defeated by Mathieu “ZywOo” Herbaut’s team. However, because Spirit are such a great competitor in the group stage of pretty much every tournament they attend, many expect them to win the race.

A Quick Look at Tradeit League FE Masters’ Success

Tradeit League FE Masters has had three editions so far, and the numbers are growing with each tournament. From prize pool to audience stats, this series is quickly becoming a success story for Tradeit, Chips.gg, and female CS2.

Tradeit’s goal is to continue to build on the foundation created by the first three editions and hopefully turn Tradeit League FE Masters into a truly prestigious CS2 competition. Here’s a brief summary of the winners and numbers we’ve had so far.

First Edition

Tradeit League FE Masters Season 1 featured 16 teams and had a prize pool of £500 plus an additional £800 in skins. The competition was won by NAVI Javelins, who narrowly defeated BIG EQUIPA in the Grand Final. The scores were 13 – 5 on Inferno, 14 – 16 on Anubis, and 13 – 11 on Mirage.

Second Edition

The second edition of Tradeit League FE Masters featured 16 teams again and was won by Team Pigeons after a challenging Grand Final against NIP Impact.

This edition offered $1500 in prize money plus an additional $1300 in skins.

Third Edition

The third edition took another step in the right direction, having a prize pool of $2800 plus more than $2000 in skins. The competition was won by NAVI Javelins, who defeated Team Pigeons in the Grand Final (3 – 1). But this time, the last match of the tournament used the best-of-five format.

Overall Stats

The first three editions of Tradeit League FE Masters featured a lot of excellent female CS2 teams, such as:

  • NAVI Javelins
  • BIG EQUIPA
  • Team Pigeons
  • Spirit Female
  • Astralis Women
  • ENCE Athena
  • NIP Impact
  • Fearless Cheetahs
  • Guild Esports
  • Etc.

Combined, the tournaments had nearly 250,000 viewers. The peak live viewers number was ~14,000, which isn’t bad at all considering we’re just getting started.

In the coming months, new announcements will be made regarding the next edition of the tournament.

A Rare AK-47 Skin Was Sold For More Than $1 Million

CS2 is famous throughout the world for many things and its rare skins have been expensive collectible items for quite some time. However, even for an FPS in which a pair of gloves can cost tens of thousands of dollars, the $1 million price tag is a rarity.

Last week, a StatTrak Factory New AK-47 skin sold for more than $1 million. Of course, we’re talking about a very rare model: Blue Gem 661. The former owner of the skin, @roflm0nster, did not want to disclose the name of the buyer or the exact price. But we know for sure that it was somewhere between $1 and $1,5 million.

Why Rare CS2 Skins Are Extremely Valuable

Counter-Strike 2 has a huge player base of around 20 million. On top of that, CS has been around for almost 25 years. During this period, it became clear that its design works well and can stand the test of time. As long as gamers play competitive FPS games, CS2 will thrive no matter what else may happen.

In recent years, games like Overwatch and Valorant tried to kill the old lion but its community only grew. And now, with CS2 getting close to the 1-year anniversary, it’s clear that the transition from CS:GO to CS2 has been a huge success despite the bad start.

What this means is that valuable CS2 skins will continue to be in demand. The sheer number of people who open cases and collect such skins gives the CS2 skin market a solid foundation.

For collectors who are willing to pay the price of owning some of the best skins in the game, this economic reality gives them the confidence to invest in CS2 skins the same way you’d invest in gold or Bitcoin.

In total, there are more than one billion CS2 skins in existence. Most of them are worth close to nothing, but a tiny percentage are regarded as high-quality. Their cost ranges from dozens of dollars to hundreds of thousands. A skin that’s worth more than $1 million is easily in the top 10 right now.

One thing to notice about this skin is that it’s Factory New. This is very important because in CS2, even a top-tier skin that’s worth $40.000 in perfect condition will lose around 90% of its value if it’s full of blemishes.

The MongolZ Win YaLLa Compass

This victory obtained by The MongolZ at YaLLa Compass was long overdue. The Asian team has been playing very well for more than a year, winning numerous B-tier and A-tier CS2 events. So it was just a matter of time until they won an S-tier competition.

Even before the Grand Final began, the fans knew that Ninjas in Pyjamas would have a difficult match. The two teams had already played against each other in the group stage of YaLLa Compass and the result was a clear victory in favor of The MongolZ: 6 – 13 on Nuke.

Coincidentally, the third map of the Grand Final was decided on the same map, and the score was identical.

The MongolZ’s Performance

The MongolZ started YaLLa Compass in group A, where they had to compete against NiP, Astralis, HEROIC, ENCE, and Sashi Esport. The only team who managed to beat them was Astralis.

Thanks to winning the group, Garidmagnai “bLitz” Byambasuren and his squad advanced directly to the semifinals, where they encountered their group stage nemesis, Astralis.

The two teams lost their map picks. The MongolZ beat Astralis on Nuke (13 – 7) and then lost on Mirage (6 – 13). The fate of the match was decided on Ancient and the fans experienced a true emotional rollercoaster. Astralis had plenty of chances to win in overtime, but eventually lost 22 – 19.

With this victory, The MongolZ were ready to face NiP again. The first map of the match was Ancient, and NiP had a dominant start. After the first half, the score was already 3 – 9 in their favor. But in the second half, their opponents managed to win with the same score.

The only problem is that they didn’t have anything left in the tank for overtime and lost 12 – 16. The comeback, however, was good enough for the Asian squad to send a clear message. On the 2nd and 3rd maps, it was very obvious who the stronger side was.

The MongolZ won 13 – 7 on Mirage and 13 – 6 on Nuke. This was arguably one of the greatest victories registered by an Asian team in the history of Counter-Strike.

No doubt, a lot of players from the region will be inspired by what The MongolZ achieved here and start to challenge European teams a lot more in the years to come.

YaLLa Compass Group Stage Results

YaLLa Compass 2024 is about to enter the playoffs stage. Only six of the 12 participants survived the group stage and among the eliminated teams are many of the favorites.

Group B, in particular, had a really strange outcome. The three teams who were supposed to qualify for the playoffs were eliminated, while the three underdogs obtained excellent results.

Group A

In group A of YaLLa Compass, The MongolZ confirmed once again that their top-16 result from PGL Major Copenhagen and their top-12 result from ESL Pro League S19 were not an accident.

This team really is one of the world’s best, and the only competitor who managed to beat them in the group stage was Astralis.

After four consecutive victories, The MongolZ looked unstoppable. But Nicolai “dev1ce” Reedtz and his squad found a way to stop the Mongol army. The battle took place on Inferno and the score was 13 – 8.

Thanks to this victory, Astralis qualified for the next stage of YaLLa Compass with a record of 3 W – 2 L.

Another team that impressed everyone was Ninjas in Pyjamas. It’s been a long time since we last saw NiP beating the likes of Astralis, ENCE, and HEROIC. Now that Alejandro “alex” Masanet is the new IGL, it seems that the roster’s play style and philosophy have improved dramatically.

NiP’s score in group A was 4 W – 1 L. The only team who defeated them was The MongolZ.

After nearly beating The MongolZ and upsetting Astralis, Sashi Esport lost every match and finished the group in 6th place. This was largely expected to happen. What wasn’t expected was ENCE’s identical result: 1 W – 4 L.

Apart from beating Sashi, Lukas “gla1ve” Rossander’s new roster had serious difficulties in this tournament.

HEROIC finished 4th with a record of 2 W – 3 L and missed the playoffs as well.

Group B

In group B, the top three favorites were eliminated. FURIA Esports won the race with 12 points after losing the first match against BIG, 3 – 13. BetBoom had the same number of points but finished 2nd because of their defeat against the Brazilians.

Fnatic lost against FURIA and BetBoom but won versus three teams who were supposed to be much stronger than them: BIG, Complexity, and Eternal Fire. All three of them ended up getting eliminated. In the case of BIG and Eternal Fire, almost nothing good happened in the entire group stage.

YaLLa Compass 2024 Preview

YaLLa Compass 2024 is scheduled to start later today and will last for five days. A total of 12 excellent teams have been invited or have qualified for this $400.000 CS2 event that takes place in Abu Dhabi.

With IEM Dallas still fresh in people’s memory, YaLLa Compass must offer fantastic matches to avoid disappointing the fans. Given the ranks of the participants, there’s a good chance it will surprise us.

Competitive Format

The competitive format of YaLLa Compass is quite unusual for CS2. The 12 teams are divided into two groups of six. In each group, the round-robin format is used and the matches consist of just one map.

Group winners advance to the semifinals. The 2nd and 3rd place teams advance to the quarterfinals. In the playoffs, the single-elimination format is used and all matches are best-of-three.

Prize Pool

The $400.000 prize pool will be divided among the participants in the following way:

  • 1st place: $200.000
  • 2nd place: $56.000
  • 3rd – 4th place: $28.000
  • 5th – 6th place: $20.000
  • 7th – 12th place: $8.000

Teams And Favorites

Here are the 12 teams that will compete in the tournament:

  • Astralis
  • ENCE
  • The MongolZ
  • Sashi Esport
  • BetBoom Team
  • Complexity Gaming
  • Ninjas in Pyjamas
  • BIG
  • Eternal Fire
  • Fnatic
  • FURIA Esports
  • HEROIC

There are a lot of important names in this race and the prize pool distribution strongly encourages all of them to aim for the trophy.

Given the absence of many formidable competitors, who recently played in IEM Dallas, teams like Astralis, Eternal Fire, Complexity Gaming, HEROIC, The MongolZ, and BIG will have a much easier tournament than usual, and will likely encounter difficulties only when playing against each other.

Group A

In group A of YaLLa Compass, Astralis, HEROIC, The MongolZ, and ENCE will fight against each other for the three available playoff spots. NiP and Sashi don’t look capable of causing serious upsets. But perhaps the best-of-one format will allow them to beat some of the stronger teams.

Group B

In group B, the line between the favorites and the underdogs is blurred. But in principle, Complexity, Eternal FIRE, and BIG should advance to the playoffs. FURIA, Fnatic, and BetBoom must play their best CS to claim a qualification spot for themselves.

9z Climbs 27 Positions In CS2 Rankings

IEM Dallas 2024 was a very entertaining CS2 event that featured 16 of the world’s best teams. With few exceptions, every competitor who would have attended a Major was present in Dallas and that created an opportunity to watch some world-class Counter-Strike.

Among the big names, such as MOUZ, FaZe Clan, Natus Vincere, Team Vitality, G2 Esports, Team Spirit, and Team Liquid, 9z was almost invisible.

People looked at this team the way you look at an episodic character of a TV series – you know that it won’t take long before something bad happens to them and they vanish forever from the story.

But in the IEM series, 9z’s fate was very different. The team entered the tournament ranked 40 in the world and by the end of it, they were ranked 13. That’s above Team Falcons, BIG, The MongolZ, FURIA Esports, ENCE, and other famous organizations.

9z’s Results At IEM Dallas

9z started IEM Dallas in group A, where their first opponent was the number-one team in the world, MOUZ, who had won the previous two CS2 LAN events, ESL Pro League S19 and BetBoom Dacha Belgrade.

Against such a competitor, 9z shouldn’t have won more than 6 – 8 rounds. But they actually won the whole match quite easily. After the first half of the map, the score was 3 – 9 in their favor.

In the second match, 9z encountered Team Liquid, who had defeated Complexity in the first round. This match was extremely tough for both teams.

Liquid should have won very quickly, but they somehow lost the first map 16 – 13 after winning the first half of it 3 – 9. The 2nd and 3rd maps had tight scores as well: 9 – 13 and 13 – 11.

After beating two giants, it was Team Vitality’s turn to try and stop 9z. But they too were bested in the end: 13 – 9 on Dust 2 and 16 – 14 on Anubis.

In the playoffs, 9z played a single match, against G2 Esports. G2 would go on to win the tournament, but at the time it looked like 9z had better chances of winning this match, simply because of their group stage performance.

The scores were close: 11 – 13 on Inferno and 8 – 13 on Dust 2. Nikola “NiKo” Kovac had a particularly good performance in this match, finishing with a score of 40 – 25.

G2 Esports Win IEM Dallas 2024

G2 Esports have done it. When IEM Dallas began, few people expected them to reach the playoffs and almost nobody believed in their ability to win the trophy.

But after a thrilling performance in the Grand Final against Team Vitality, Ilya “m0NESY” Osipov and his squad became the winners of one of the most exciting Counter-Strike events that took place on American soil in recent years.

G2’s Performance

The Grand Final of IEM Dallas started on G2’s map pick, Inferno. In the first half, m0NESY and Mathieu “ZywOo” Herbaut battled for supremacy and tried their best to carry their teams. The score was 7 – 5 for G2.

But the second half was much harder for them and the battle was pushed into overtime. After losing three consecutive rounds, G2 managed to make a comeback. They eventually won after the second overtime with a score of 19 – 16.

On the next map, Anubis, the situation in the first 24 rounds was almost identical. The two teams had a very close confrontation and the scores were 5 – 7 / 12 – 12.

Nikola “NiKo” Kovac and m0NESY were much more effective than the rest of their teammates, getting lots of kills and ending with positive KD scores. But Vitality played just a tiny bit better. The score was 13 – 16.

The match was decided on Nuke. Initially, G2 gained a significant lead. But Vitality fought hard and won six consecutive games. By the end of the first half, the score was 6 – 6.

The second half was a complete disaster for the French side, partly because their superstar player, ZywOo, wasn’t able to play as well as he usually does.

His performance on this map was the worst on the server and one of the worst we’ve seen from him in 2023 and 2024: 9 – 16, 46.2 ADR, 0.60 rating 2.0.

Meanwhile, m0NESY had a formidable score: 25 – 11, 120.3 ADR, 1.86 rating 2.0. Thanks to this, G2 claimed their first trophy in 2024 after four failed attempts. For Jacky “Stewie2K” Yip, this was a remarkable result.

M0NESY Won The MVP Award

After such a performance, not just in this match but throughout the tournament, it’s not a surprise that m0NESY was given the IEM Dallas MVP award. It seems that finally, after two and a half years of competing for G2, he has reached his true potential.

If he continues like this, he will be one of the top contenders for the Player of the Year award.
