Perfect World Shanghai Major 2024 Asia-Pacific RMR Preview

0

The RMRs for Perfect World Shanghai Major 2024 are scheduled to start next week and the Asia-Pacific region will be the first.

Just eight teams compete in this region but the number of qualification spots for the Major are only three. One of the eight teams is almost guaranteed to be the winner. Two more have realistic chances of finishing 2nd or 3rd.

The Asia-Pacific RMR for Perfect World Shanghai Major 2024 will be played between November 11 – 13 in Shanghai, China. The fact that it’s an offline event makes the matches more captivating.

Furthermore, the other RMRs will start at a later date, so for the first few days, the Asian teams will enjoy a lot of attention from Europe, America, and other parts of the world.

Format

The competitive format of the tournament is very basic. There is no group stage. The teams start in the upper bracket and compete in a double-elimination format. Opening matches use the best-of-one format. All other matches are best-of-three.

To qualify for the Shanghai Major, an upper-bracket team must win its first two matches. Lower bracket teams must win the lower bracket, which has three rounds.

Participants And Favorites

Here are the eight teams that play in this qualifier:

  • The MongolZ
  • FlyQuest
  • Rare Atom
  • Lynn Vision Gaming
  • DRILLAS
  • GR Gaming
  • TALON
  • Alter Ego

The favorites here are not hard to spot. The MongolZ is far better than the other competitors, so their qualification is almost guaranteed. With three available tickets for the big event, they simply cannot miss it. They’d have to lose not once but twice, against opponents who are nowhere near them in the global rankings.

FlyQuest is also among the favorites. This Australian roster is currently ranked 21st and has two high-caliber players: Christopher “dexter” Nong and Jay “Liazz” Tregillgas. Both of them are accomplished veterans.

The third important team in this race is Lynn Vision Gaming, ranked 61st at the moment. This position might not seem very good but compared to the other participants, Lynn Vision is relatively strong.

The Top 5 Teams In CS2 Right Now

0

According to Valve’s rankings, the top five teams in CS2 at the moment are G2 Esports, Natus Vincere, Team Spirit, Team Vitality, and The MongolZ.

You may or may not agree with Valve’s assessment. But that’s what the pecking order is based on its algorithm.

Should G2 Be Ranked Higher Than Natus Vincere?

It’s worth noting that HLTV’s world rankings are a bit different, mainly because past victories weigh considerably more in determining a team’s current rank.

According to their algorithm, The MongolZ are not even in the top 10 at the moment despite winning Thunderpick World Championship 2024 less than a week ago.

This A-tier tournament yields much fewer points than an S-tier one and for good reason. To win the trophy, The MongolZ did not have to face a single top-5 team. In the Grand Final they had to beat HEROIC, which is currently ranked 8th. The other teams they defeated are not even in the top 16.

This makes their victory less prestigious and also less relevant in determining their position in the world rankings.

Apart from this divergence, Valve’s rankings seem fine. Well, almost. G2 Esports is above Natus Vincere despite the fact that the Ukrainian organization has been very dominant in 2024.

After four S-tier trophies (including the PGL Major) and three other Grand Finals at S-tier tournaments, you would expect Na’Vi to be considered the best team in CS2.

But because of their disappointing result at BLAST Premier World Final, where they finished 7th – 8th out of eight participants, Na’Vi is currently ranked 2nd.

G2’s recent results have been impressive, so it can be argued that they deserve to occupy the number 1 position.

Not only have they won three S-tier tournaments in the last five months, but they also defeated Natus Vincere and Team Spirit in the last two Grand Finals, which took place in the last six weeks.

The MongolZ Win Thunderpick World Championship 2024

0

A few days ago, The MongolZ won their 2nd S-Tier CS2 Trophy of 2024 at Thunderpick World Championship 2024. The Asian team’s achievement is clear proof that they are now one of the best in the world.

Despite being ranked just 11th globally, The MongolZ proved this year that they can beat the likes of Eternal Fire, Cloud9, Fnatic, ENCE, Astralis, HEROIC, NiP, and even Team Spirit, who recently finished 2nd at BLAST Premier World Final 2024.

Thunderpick World Championship offered $850,000 in prizes and the winning team was awarded $500,000. So, in terms of their winnings, The MongolZ won a tournament that’s the equivalent of a CS2 Major.

The Path To The Trophy

The MongolZ started the competition in group B, where they managed to win their first two matches against Cloud9 and Fnatic without losing a single map. But they struggled each time.

Against Cloud9, the scores were 13 – 11 on Dust II and 13 – 11 on Ancient. Against Fnatic, they were 13 – 11 on Mirage and 13 – 7 on Dust II. In both of these matches, The Mongolz won thanks to the excellent performance of players like Garidmagnai “bLitz” Byambasuren.

After winning their group with two wins and no losses, The MongolZ had to win three more matches to claim the trophy.

The first one, played against Imperial Esports, was a serious test of skill and determination. The MongolZ won the first map 12 – 16 but lost the second one 13 – 6. On the third map, they were two rounds behind after the first half and needed to excel in the second half, which they did, winning it 1 – 8.

The second playoffs match was much easier. 3DMAX’s tactics were ineffective against the Asians and the battle was over very quickly: 6 – 13 on Anubis, 9 – 13 on Ancient.

The Grand Final offered The MongolZ another opportunity to test their resolve because the opponent was HEROIC. The score was 1 – 1 after the first two maps and the third finished 13 – 11 in favor of the Asian squad. After that, HEROIC seem to have lost their morale because the score on the 4th map was 13 – 2.

G2 Esports Are The Winners Of BLAST Premier World Final 2024

0

G2 were supposed to have a tough Grand Final against Team Spirit at BLAST Premier World Final 2024, but they won the match with ease. The score, 3 – 0, speaks for itself.

What’s more, Spirit did not manage to win more than 7 rounds on any of the three maps and lost two second-halves without a single round win. This made the match feel extremely one-sided.

However, the Singaporean audience had a great time thanks to the sheer number of amazing plays created by Ilya “m0NESY” Osipov, who was named the MVP of the tournament, and Danil “donk” Kryshkovets, who showed us what he is capable of.

Despite Team Spirit getting demolished by G2 strategically and tactically, donk had a decent individual score and looked capable of doing much more with a bit more support from his teammates.

G2 vs. Spirit: 3 – 0

The first map was the closest of the three. Its first half ended with a 2-round advantage for Spirit, who seemed to be in control. But in the second half, G2 simply won eight consecutive rounds and showed that their CT-side is incredibly well-planned.

Donk played well on this map and finished with a positive score. His teammate, Myroslav “zont1x” Plakhotia, did the same. But the problem was that G2 had a perfect plan for stopping Spirit’s attempts to plant the bomb. Each time they tried, an ingenious tactic was employed to thwart them.

After losing the first map, Spirit knew they were in trouble but still had some fight left in them. After all, Mirage was G2’s map pick and Anubis was next.

Once again, zont1x played well. But this time, donk had a terrible performance and ended the match with a score of 6 – 16. Meanwhile, all of G2’s players had a positive KD score. In particular, Nikola “NiKo” Kovac ended this map with a KD score of 23 – 13 and an ADR of 136.1. His rating 2.1 was 2.03!

After losing 13 – 5 with 6 consecutive round defeats in the second half, Spirit were obviously demoralized. The third map was a mere formality for G2, who had a great start and had a 4-round advantage after the first half. The score here was 13 – 7.

Thanks to this victory at BLAST Premier World Final 2024, G2 now have three S-tier trophies in 2024 and could win their 4th at the upcoming CS2 Major.

G2 And Spirit Advance To The Grand Final Of BLAST Premier World Final

0

The semifinals of BLAST Premier World Final were, as we expected challenging for all participants.

After a three map series, Team Spirit won against Astralis. G2 Esports did the same against Team Vitality.

In both cases, the superstars performed well when it mattered most. Danil “donk” Kryshkovets had the highest number of kills on the server, while Ilya “m0NESY” Osipov was one league above everyone else, finishing with a score of 63 – 36, an ADR of 100.7, and a rating 2.1 of 1.55.

Right now, he is most likely one of the top three favorites to win the best player of the year award. Thanks to him, G2 have qualified for another Grand Final of an S-tier CS2 tournament. The previous one, played at BLAST Premier: Fall Final 2024, was a triumph.

It remains to be seen if G2 can win again. Last time, they had to beat Natus Vincere. Now they will play against Team Spirit.

G2 Esports vs. Team Vitality: 2 – 1

This match started well for G2, who had a massive lead after the first half of Dust II: 9 – 3. In the second half, Vitality looked capable of making a comeback thanks to the great performance of Lotan “Spinx” Giladi and Mathieu “ZywOo” Herbaut. But G2 managed to make a comeback of their own and won 13 – 10.

The 2nd and 3rd maps were fairly one-sided, at least in the second half. Vitality won on Inferno 7 – 13 while G2 won on Mirage 13 – 8.

This victory was expected to happen because Vitality had to play with a stand-in.

Team Spirit vs. Astralis: 2 – 1

Spirit had a very strong start in this match, winning the second half of Dust II 6 – 0. The final score on this map was 13 – 5.

The next two maps were, once again, one-sided. Astralis won Vertigo 3 – 13 while Spirit won Ancient 13 – 5.

For donk, this was an important victory that will allow him to stay in the race for the best player of the year.

BLAST Premier World Final Group Stage Results

0

The playoffs stage of BLAST Premier World Final 2024 is about to begin. Six of the eight initial teams are left in the race and two of them are already waiting for their opponents in the semifinals.

Group A Results

In group A, Astralis surprised everyone with a great performance. The Danes won both of their matches despite being faced with much stronger opponents.

Both Natus Vincere and MOUZ were supposed to defeat them with ease, but they won each time without losing a single map. In fact, the scores were not even close.

MOUZ finished 2nd in the group while FaZe Clan finished 3rd after defeating Natus Vincere. For the Ukrainian team, the competition is already over. This defeat should motivate them to train harder for the second Major of the year, Perfect World Shanghai.

The team’s coach, Andrij “B1ad3” Ghorodensjkyj, actually declared before the start of BLAST Premier World Final 2024 that a win here was not necessarily desirable because it would have made the players too confident. Well, now that they were eliminated early, they will certainly not have this problem at the Major.

Group B Results

In group B, G2 Esports won after losing their first map of the tournament 0 – 13. Team Liquid simply destroyed them on Ancient but then went on to lose the match. They also lost the elimination match against Team Vitality.

In the winners match, between G2 and Team Spirit, G2 proved to be just a bit stronger. The scores were 16 – 13 on Anubis and 13 – 10 on Mirage.

Danil “donk” Kryshkovets played well and finished with a personal score of 51 – 39. But his effort could not save his team. It remains to be seen what will happen in the playoffs.

Spirit is about to face FaZe Clan while Vitality will play against MOUZ. In 2024, Spirit played five matches against FaZe and the score is currently 3 – 2 in their favor.

Great Start For Astralis At BLAST Premier World Final 2024

0

Astralis probably went to BLAST Premier World Final expecting to lose their first match against Natus Vincere and then fight hard to avoid elimination against one of the other two group opponents, MOUZ and FaZe Clan.

But it seems that Casper “cadiaN” Moller and his squad have managed to build much earlier than expected a playstyle that can win matches against the world’s best CS2 teams.

Based on cadiaN’s own admission, the best version of Astralis was supposed to be seen only next year. So either something went right for the Danes or something went wrong for Na’Vi. Right now, given that the Ukrainian team has been eliminated by FaZe Clan, the truth seems to be somewhere in the middle.

In the coming hours, we will find out if Astralis truly are as good as they looked in their first match of BLAST Premier World Final 2024 or if their performance was a fluke.

Group A Results

Astralis didn’t just defeat Na’Vi. They did it without losing a single map and at a very big score difference: 6 – 13 on Nuke, 6 – 13 on Mirage. The two maps were identical: 5 – 7 followed by a one-sided second half.

For Astralis, three players had a rating 2.1 of at least 1.50. Meanwhile, Justinas “jL” Lekavicius had one of his worst performances of the year, ending with a personal score of 18 – 35.

The match between FaZe Clan and MOUZ was a lot more interesting. The scores were 13 – 16 on Inferno and 11 – 13 on Nuke. FaZe Clan almost got carried by David “frozen” Cernansky, who finished with the highest ADR on the server (97.3) and a KD score of 42 – 34.

But MOUZ were just a bit better. The match between them and Astralis is about to begin. This will be a very tough test for the Danes.

FECS Becomes Tradeit FECS

0

Tradeit has partnered up with FECS, which now became Tradeit FECS. This was possible thanks to the success of Tradeit League FE Masters. The hub opens on November 2 at 6 PM CET on FACEIT and will have a weekly prize pool.

This will be a great opportunity for female CS2 players to hone their skills to perfection. The hub has 1600 pre-existing members and all of them are strong competitors. The captain selection is leaderboard based and rules can be found on FACEIT’s website. The FACEIT skill level of the participants ranges from 1 to 10.

This is an all-female hub designed to allow participants to train against the best players they will encounter in tournaments such as Tradeit League FE Masters. Registration is open on FACEIT.

How The League Works

FE CS Tradeit

The rules, which you can read on FACEIT’s site, are very simple. Ten individual players will queue and enter a match room. There will be one team captain picked on each team according to the players’ leaderboard status.

These team captains will choose their teammates, pick the server location and then ban maps. They will enter into a normal 5v5 game in which the winning team will win points and move up the leaderboard. The losing team will lose points.

Wins are scalable. So, for example, if someone is on a 6+ win streak, they will get an additional 2 points per win in the streak.

The prizes will be distributed as follows:

  • 1st Place – $135 in skins
  • 2nd Place – $70 in skins
  • 3rd Place – 25k FACEIT points

BLAST Premier: World Final 2024

0

BLAST Premier: World Final 2024 will be played much earlier this year. Usually, the tournament takes place in December. But this time, it will take place between October 30 – November 3.

One thing that has stayed the same, however, is the small number of participants and their strength. Only eight teams compete in the tournament but every single one of them is formidable.

The winner is hard to predict. All we know is that Natus Vincere have dominated this competitive year, especially its second part, playing in six consecutive Grand Finals of S-tier events and winning three of them.

Format, Prize Pool, and Location

BLAST Premier: World Final 2024 will take place in Singapore. Its format is very simple. The teams are divided into two groups of four. The winner of each group advances to the semifinals. The 2nd and 3rd place teams advance to the quarterfinals.

Only four matches will be played in each group: two opening matches, one elimination match and one winners match. All of them will be best-of-three series. The Grand Final, as usual, will be a best-of-five match and its winner receives $500.000. The total prize pool is $1 million.

Participants

Here are the eight teams that will compete in BLAST Premier: World Final 2024:

Group A

  • Astralis
  • FaZe Clan
  • MOUZ
  • Natus Vincere

Group B

  • G2 Esports
  • Team Liquid
  • Team Spirit
  • Team Vitality

As you can see, both groups are full of top teams, so it’s impossible to guess which ones will be eliminated. Based on what happened in recent months, you would think that Astralis and Team Liquid will finish 4th in their groups. But that’s not guaranteed.

As for the likely winners, Natus Vincere and G2 Esports have the highest chances. But the differences are so small that both of them are only slightly better than the rest.

Thunderpick World Championship Quarterfinals Results

0

The group stage of Thunderpick World Championship 2024 ended with a mix of predictable and unpredictable results.

The MongolZ, HEROIC, and BIG advanced to the playoffs, confirming their strength. But Virtus.pro, Team Falcons, Cloud9, Ninjas in Pyjamas, and M80, despite being counted among the favorites at the start of the tournament, were eliminated. In some cases, they were eliminated after just two matches!

The Eight Survivors

Here are the eight teams that qualified for the playoffs:

  • 3DMAX
  • OG
  • The MongolZ
  • Fnatic
  • HEROIC
  • Imperial Esports
  • BIG
  • BESTIA

Quarterfinals Results

Here’s what happened in each of the four quarterfinals that were played on the first day of the playoffs stage:

3DMAX vs. BESTIA: 2 – 1

3DMAX were expected to crush BESTIA after winning group A. On the first map, the score was 13 – 4 in their favor. But on the second map, the situation became very complicated in the second half and BESTIA managed to win in overtime 18 – 22.

The third map, once again, belonged to 3DMAX, who won in the second half after a 6-6 result in the first. The final score was 13 – 9.

Imperial Esports vs. The MongolZ: 1 – 2

Imperial looked capable of beating The MongolZ in the quarterfinals of Thunderpick World Championship 2024 and almost did. They lost the first map 12 – 16 and won the second one 13 – 6. On the third map, they had the lead after the first half (7 – 5) but ended up losing the second half almost completely. The score was 8 – 13.

HEROIC vs. Fnatic: 2 – 0

HEROIC and Fnatic played a very tough match in which both teams came close to winning. HEROIC eventually proved to be just a bit stronger: 13 – 10 on Nuke and 13 – 10 on Vertigo.

OG vs. BIG: 2 – 1

OG shouldn’t have won against BIG but after losing the first map 9 – 13, they started playing really well and won the last two maps 13 – 11 and 13 – 1.
