G2 were supposed to have a tough Grand Final against Team Spirit at BLAST Premier World Final 2024, but they won the match with ease. The score, 3 – 0, speaks for itself.

What’s more, Spirit did not manage to win more than 7 rounds on any of the three maps and lost two second-halves without a single round win. This made the match feel extremely one-sided.

However, the Singaporean audience had a great time thanks to the sheer number of amazing plays created by Ilya “m0NESY” Osipov, who was named the MVP of the tournament, and Danil “donk” Kryshkovets, who showed us what he is capable of.

Despite Team Spirit getting demolished by G2 strategically and tactically, donk had a decent individual score and looked capable of doing much more with a bit more support from his teammates.

G2 vs. Spirit: 3 – 0

The first map was the closest of the three. Its first half ended with a 2-round advantage for Spirit, who seemed to be in control. But in the second half, G2 simply won eight consecutive rounds and showed that their CT-side is incredibly well-planned.

Donk played well on this map and finished with a positive score. His teammate, Myroslav “zont1x” Plakhotia, did the same. But the problem was that G2 had a perfect plan for stopping Spirit’s attempts to plant the bomb. Each time they tried, an ingenious tactic was employed to thwart them.

After losing the first map, Spirit knew they were in trouble but still had some fight left in them. After all, Mirage was G2’s map pick and Anubis was next.

Once again, zont1x played well. But this time, donk had a terrible performance and ended the match with a score of 6 – 16. Meanwhile, all of G2’s players had a positive KD score. In particular, Nikola “NiKo” Kovac ended this map with a KD score of 23 – 13 and an ADR of 136.1. His rating 2.1 was 2.03!

After losing 13 – 5 with 6 consecutive round defeats in the second half, Spirit were obviously demoralized. The third map was a mere formality for G2, who had a great start and had a 4-round advantage after the first half. The score here was 13 – 7.

Thanks to this victory at BLAST Premier World Final 2024, G2 now have three S-tier trophies in 2024 and could win their 4th at the upcoming CS2 Major.
