Complexity was without a doubt one of the favorites at DreamHack Jönköping. Because they were the highest-ranked team in the tournament, everyone expected them to qualify for the playoffs and perhaps even the Grand Final.
The fact that they won the trophy confirms their strength and should boost their confidence for the upcoming Esports World Cup, which is scheduled to be played in Riyadh between July 17 – 21.
Complexity’s Path To Victory
Complexity began DreamHack Jönköping with a crushing victory against Alliance. The famous esports organization, primarily known for its Dota 2 results, decided last year to venture into Counter-Strike with a Swedish roster. But so far, they haven’t been able to get any important results in B-tier, A-tier, or S-tier tournaments.
Complexity quickly defeated them on Dust II. The score was 13 – 2 and everyone on their roster played well.
The second match of the tournament proved to be much harder. ENCE, led by Lukas “gla1ve” Rossander, looked a lot more stable than several weeks ago, when they finished 9th – 10th at YaLLa Compass after changing two players.
It seems that Viktor “sdy” Orudzhev and Paavo “podi” Heuskanen are close to being fully integrated into ENCE’s roster. The team’s match against Complexity finished with a favorable result: 10 – 13 on Dust II.
Despite being the team’s IGL, gla1ve had the highest KD score (+9) and the highest rating 2.0 on the server (1,62).
In the decider match, Complexity lost the first map, Ancient, against MIBR (8 – 13) but won the 2nd and 3rd. The scores, however, were very tight: 13 – 11 on Vertigo and 13 – 10 on Anubis.
In the playoffs, Complexity faced Aurora Gaming first and won 1 – 2. All three maps were a bit disappointing from a spectacle point of view because they were extremely one-sided. The scores speak for themselves: 6 – 13 on Anubis, 13 – 7 on Nuke, and 3 – 13 on Inferno.
In the Grand Final, Complexity met Team Falcons. Both of these teams hadn’t won a single event in 2024 and were eager to claim their first trophy. For Falcons, who invested heavily in their new CS2 roster, this win would have been a great morale boost. But Complexity were just a bit better.
The scores were 13 – 10 on Vertigo and 13 – 9 on Nuke. The best player on the server was Jonathan “EliGE” Jablonowski, whose 40 – 26 score played a huge role in Complexity’s triumph.
