Stage 2 of the Austin Major is over and the number one favorite failed to advance.
Apart from Team Falcons, who underperformed at this event, HEROIC, MIBR, OG, M80, B8, TYLOO, and BetBoom Team have also been eliminated.
Some of these teams, such as HEROIC, were supposed to qualify for stage 3 but they simply couldn’t find a successful strategy against their very determined opponents.
Even FaZe Clan, despite having Aleksandr “s1mple” Kostyliev on their roster, came close to getting eliminated and had to play all five rounds to advance.
Qualified Teams
Here are the eight teams that qualified for stage 3:
- Legacy: 3 W – 0 L
- Virtus.pro: 3 W – 0 L
- PaiN Gaming: 3 W – 1 L
- 3DMAX: 3 W – 1 L
- FURIA: 3 W – 1 L
- FaZe Clan: 3 W – 2 L
- Nemiga Gaming: 3 W – 2 L
- Lynn Vision Gaming: 3 W – 2 L
At the top and the bottom of this list we have teams that surprised everyone in a pleasant way. Legacy and VP were not expected to advance with a perfect score, while Nemiga and LVG were not expected to advance at all. It will be interesting to see what these competitors can do in stage 3 of the Austin Major.
Most probably, they won’t be able to keep up with the likes of Vitality, Spirit, and MOUZ. But if they somehow do, that will increase their prestige tremendously. Performing well at a CS2 Major comes with lots of community benefits because millions of people tune in to watch these events.
