Post-Major CS2 Roster Changes

Share

The dust has barely settled after the most recent CS2 Major, and several high-profile organizations have already started reshaping their rosters and support staff.

Whether it’s a tactical restructuring or a response to underwhelming performances, HEROIC, Imperial Esports, Team Liquid, and Virtus.pro have all made significant changes heading into the next competitive cycle.

HEROIC Signed a New Coach

HEROIC’s performance in 2025 has not been the desired one. The organization played poorly at the most important tournaments, including the Austin Major, where they finished 17th – 19th.

Despite winning two A-tier competitions, HEROIC had to change something, so they decided to sign a new coach, Tobias “TOBIZ” Theo. He is the former coach of MOUZ NXT, so he’ll probably do a good job at his new club.

The problem, however, is that HEROIC lost their star player, Álvaro “SunPayus” García, and replaced him with Gleb “gr1ks” Gazin. This makes it hard to believe that their performance will improve until the end of the year.

Imperial Esports Benches decenty

Brazilian squad Imperial Esports has benched Lucas “decenty” Bacelar after nearly two years. The decision follows a string of disappointing results in both regional and international tournaments.

Although decenty showed promise, team officials stated the move was “performance-driven” and aligned with the team’s long-term goals.

Team Liquid Releases Performance Coach

In North America, Team Liquid has parted ways with their performance coach, Edward Cleland, who joined the organization in December 2023.

Despite their best efforts, Liquid obtained poor results in 2025 and can no longer win against the world’s best teams. At this point, new signings are needed to fix the problem.

Virtus.pro Benches FL4MUS, Signs Perfecto

The biggest roster shake-up comes from Virtus.pro, who benched Timur “FL4MUS” Maryev and signed former NAVI star Ilya “Perfecto” Zalutskiy, who spent an entire year on Cloud9’s bench.

Perfecto’s arrival reunites him with familiar CIS teammates and injects the squad with a wealth of experience and composure under pressure.

It will be interesting to see what Perfecto and Denis “electroNic” Sharipov can achieve together. The two of them used to compete for NAVI with great success.
