The Top 5 Teams In CS2 Right Now

Share

According to Valve’s rankings, the top five teams in CS2 at the moment are G2 Esports, Natus Vincere, Team Spirit, Team Vitality, and The MongolZ.

You may or may not agree with Valve’s assessment. But that’s what the pecking order is based on its algorithm.

Should G2 Be Ranked Higher Than Natus Vincere?

It’s worth noting that HLTV’s world rankings are a bit different, mainly because past victories weigh considerably more in determining a team’s current rank.

According to their algorithm, The MongolZ are not even in the top 10 at the moment despite winning Thunderpick World Championship 2024 less than a week ago.

This A-tier tournament yields much fewer points than an S-tier one and for good reason. To win the trophy, The MongolZ did not have to face a single top-5 team. In the Grand Final they had to beat HEROIC, which is currently ranked 8th. The other teams they defeated are not even in the top 16.

This makes their victory less prestigious and also less relevant in determining their position in the world rankings.

Apart from this divergence, Valve’s rankings seem fine. Well, almost. G2 Esports is above Natus Vincere despite the fact that the Ukrainian organization has been very dominant in 2024.

After four S-tier trophies (including the PGL Major) and three other Grand Finals at S-tier tournaments, you would expect Na’Vi to be considered the best team in CS2.

But because of their disappointing result at BLAST Premier World Final, where they finished 7th – 8th out of eight participants, Na’Vi is currently ranked 2nd.

G2’s recent results have been impressive, so it can be argued that they deserve to occupy the number 1 position.

Not only have they won three S-tier tournaments in the last five months, but they also defeated Natus Vincere and Team Spirit in the last two Grand Finals, which took place in the last six weeks.
