YaLLa Compass 2024 is scheduled to start later today and will last for five days. A total of 12 excellent teams have been invited or have qualified for this $400.000 CS2 event that takes place in Abu Dhabi.
With IEM Dallas still fresh in people’s memory, YaLLa Compass must offer fantastic matches to avoid disappointing the fans. Given the ranks of the participants, there’s a good chance it will surprise us.
Competitive Format
The competitive format of YaLLa Compass is quite unusual for CS2. The 12 teams are divided into two groups of six. In each group, the round-robin format is used and the matches consist of just one map.
Group winners advance to the semifinals. The 2nd and 3rd place teams advance to the quarterfinals. In the playoffs, the single-elimination format is used and all matches are best-of-three.
Prize Pool
The $400.000 prize pool will be divided among the participants in the following way:
- 1st place: $200.000
- 2nd place: $56.000
- 3rd – 4th place: $28.000
- 5th – 6th place: $20.000
- 7th – 12th place: $8.000
Teams And Favorites
Here are the 12 teams that will compete in the tournament:
- Astralis
- ENCE
- The MongolZ
- Sashi Esport
- BetBoom Team
- Complexity Gaming
- Ninjas in Pyjamas
- BIG
- Eternal Fire
- Fnatic
- FURIA Esports
- HEROIC
There are a lot of important names in this race and the prize pool distribution strongly encourages all of them to aim for the trophy.
Given the absence of many formidable competitors, who recently played in IEM Dallas, teams like Astralis, Eternal Fire, Complexity Gaming, HEROIC, The MongolZ, and BIG will have a much easier tournament than usual, and will likely encounter difficulties only when playing against each other.
Group A
In group A of YaLLa Compass, Astralis, HEROIC, The MongolZ, and ENCE will fight against each other for the three available playoff spots. NiP and Sashi don’t look capable of causing serious upsets. But perhaps the best-of-one format will allow them to beat some of the stronger teams.
Group B
In group B, the line between the favorites and the underdogs is blurred. But in principle, Complexity, Eternal FIRE, and BIG should advance to the playoffs. FURIA, Fnatic, and BetBoom must play their best CS to claim a qualification spot for themselves.
