It always seemed like something reserved for hardcore artists or people who knew their way around 3D modeling. But once I actually tried it, I realized it\u2019s not as complicated as it looks. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you&#8217;ve ever wanted to see your own design in-game\u2014or even make some money from it\u2014you\u2019re in the right place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id='1-get-the-right-tools'  id=\"boomdevs_1\" class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-1-get-the-right-tools\"><strong>1. Some weapons have tiny surface areas, while others (like the AK-47) offer more space to go wild with designs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once you pick a weapon, download its UV map from <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/developer.valvesoftware.com\/wiki\/Category:File_formats\">Valve&#8217;s official files<\/a><\/strong> or community sources. When I made my first skin, I messed up the alignment so many times. It looked fine in Photoshop, but in-game, parts of the design were stretched or misplaced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A few things to keep in mind:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2705 <strong>Keep details clear<\/strong> \u2013 Small details can get lost on low-res skins.<br>\u2705 <strong>Mind the mirroring<\/strong> \u2013 Some weapons mirror textures on one side.
